Each day our young surfers gather in the sanctuary for an Opening Worship Assembly where they will be introduced to the theme of the day and meet their fellow surfers and adult lifeguards. Then each group will 'catch a wave' and head off to experience a Bible story at the Scripture Scene, learn tunes at Sound Waves, make great beach souvenirs at Beachcomber Crafts, run off energy at Rockin' Rec, eat tasty beach snacks at the Snack Shack and have an opportunity to reach out and serve at the Surf 'n' Sand Mission Lab. The day ends with a time of reflection and a Closing Worship Assembly back in the sanctuary where children will conclude their VBS experience in praise and worship.
Special opportunity for rising 4th – 6th graders: Think you're too old for VBS? We don't! Our 'tweens' get the opportunity to put their faith into action each day of VBS with a specially designed VBS Mission Day Camp that surfs out into the community and allows tweens to experience hands-on mission at local agencies that serve those in need.
Adult friends (moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc) are invited to join the fun of VBS 2008 as Lifeguards and Activity Leaders and youth friends (rising 7th grade – college) are invited to join the fun too as Junior Lifeguards. It takes over 190 volunteers to make VBS at First Presbyterian church happen so there's always room for another set of hands. Parents are asked to serve at least one day of VBS for each of their children that attends and nursery care is provided for younger children of volunteers on the day(s) that they serve. Want more information on how adults and youth can be involved? Contact Ginger Sheppard (gingersheppard@earthlink.net or 665-9953) or Krista Lovell (klovell@fpcnashville.org or 292-9520).
BEACH PARTY will bring your children into a closer relationship with God, allow them to experience the love of Jesus as their friend and Savior, and inspire them to share their love of God with others. We look forward to seeing you this summer!
