From the Nursery Coordinator
Welcome to the Nursery of First Presbyterian Church. My name is Karen Fitts, and I'm the Nursery Coordinator. I use my experiences from my many years of teaching pre-school and caring for our children in the nursery to maintain a safe, nurturing environment for your child. Our dedicated nursery staff realizes that you are allowing us to care for your greatest treasure and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve you. We wish to provide your child with an atmosphere of comfort and security while they are in the care of the nursery staff. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 615/298-9519 or e-mail me.

Our Yellow Room is for infants from 6 weeks to 6 months. This room is equipped with swings, exersaucers and many different kinds of stimulating toys for your child's enjoyment. Children find this room to be relaxing and calming with the caring staff.
Our Blue Room is for children 7 months to 12 months. This room is inviting for older babies to explore all the safe, fun and educational toys that the room has to offer. The room is very spacious and has plenty of areas where the children can crawl and pull up safely.
Our Red Room is for children 13 months to 20 months. During the Sunday School hour, the children will be involved in a Bible lesson, coloring sheet activity and songs, all put together by parent volunteers who teach in the rooms each week. The children in this room love to discover the instruments and play along with the songs.
Our Green Room is for children 21 months to 28 months. The room is equipped with a kitchen area for the children and many educational toys. Children in the Green Room enjoy a Sunday School lesson that includes a Bible story and craft that will continue to remind your child of the lesson they learned while here at church. Many of the dads volunteer to come into the classroom and teach the children through music.
Our Purple Room is for children 29 months to 36 months. This room is full of manipulative educational toys such as puzzles, stackables, blocks and laces. Sunday School teachers explore new and exciting ways to learn about God through art, songs and stories.
Our Orange Room is for children 37 months to 42 months. This room is located in the pod area of the nursery wings. The room is center-oriented with an emphasis on self-exploration. During the Sunday School hour, these children are exposed to the church curriculum for the first time. The children are more involved in the Bible lesson, craft and music.
Our Pink Room is for children 43 months to 48 months. This room also is located in the pod area of the nursery wing. The room is center-oriented and involved in the Sunday School church curriculum. The children become very involved with the lessons in many different ways such as acting out the stories and learning Bible verses.

Why Do We Have Pagers?
Our pager system offers many different features that are helpful to the nursery staff and parents. The first priority of our paging system is to locate parents who are needed in the nursery by sending a vibration and a simple message letting you know why you are needed. We will not allow your child to be upset for over ten minutes without contacting you.
Our pager system also serves as a security measure. Children in the nursery will only be released to the parent or designated individual who returns the pager with the corresponding number located on the child's nametag.
Our pager system is important and expensive; therefore, in the case that a pager is lost, you will be asked to replace it.

Volunteer Ministry
Parents are needed as volunteers in our nursery. Every Sunday our nursery is staffed with paid workers as well as several parent volunteers. We ask that each parent set aside one hour twice a year to involve themselves in our nursery as a volunteer. This also gives parents an opportunity to get to know nursery workers, Sunday School teachers, and other families within the church.
