College Ministry at FPC
The college youth at FPC, while perhaps physically separated from us, are always with us in spirit.

As I travel throughout the country visiting with our college youth, this section will strive to keep us all up-to-date on what this active, vibrant part of our church family is doing at school, on mission trips, service projects and other things that are happening in their lives we can all share.

College Mission Trip to Ecuador in 2008

On June 19th, the College Ministry of First Presbyterian Church will lead a nine day mission trip to Quito, Ecuador. We will serve with Youth World, the organization that employs Adam and Sara DeVries in Quito. Youth World will provide opportunities and experiences in and around Quito with options such as construction, daycare and orphanage work, sports ministry and vacation Bible school.

The $2,000 cost for the trip includes 8 nights and 9 days in Quito plus airfare. Youth World requires a minimum of 12 people per trip therefore, we must have all applications and deposits in hand by March 1st . Non-FPC college age students are invited to participate.

To print the trip application, click here. Scholarship assistance is available to FPC-connected college youth by contacting Linda Morphis or printing this form.

If you have questions, please call or email Linda Morphis, FPC College Ministries Coordinator: lmorphis@fpcnashville.org or 615.298.9508 (or 615.478.5510).

Trey's Latest Email to Everyone

Greetings from Nashvegas,

Before I say anything, I would just like to note that I only call Nashville Nashvegas because I hear everyone else say it…which isn't usually how I roll- just doing something because everyone else is doing it. Speaking of "not usually how I roll," I'm not sure I've ever used the term, "how I roll," and I have no idea why I decided to start in a huge mass email.

Anywho, that segues well into my next point…as you may have already noticed, you are one of the many targets in a huge, impersonal, mass email. It's not that I don't care about all of you as individuals, it's just that there are around 450 of you, and I figure some of you who are unfortunate enough have last names that start with "W-Z," might not get a personalized note before you graduate. The solution, you ask? A mass email.

All of that important information aside, here's the deal…actually, here are the deals:

A) Hi, I'm Trey Wince, and I'm the new FPC college director (I figure that would be a pretty basic place to start)

B) Throughout this school year, I'll be visiting as many of your colleges as I can to support, check in with, eat with, pray with, and basically just say "hi" to you. This is pretty much so you know that just because you may have moved a little bit out of our zip code, it doesn't mean we've forgotten about you.

C) If you get a (potentially awkward) call from me saying that I'm in your area and wanted to meet up for a bit, it would be great if you called back to say, "Sure, I'd love to hang out with you!" Otherwise I look like the sketchy guy who should've graduated years ago and hangs out in the student union building by himself.

D) We have also made an official decision to do a College Ecuador Mission experience. It looks like our dates are June 19-27. So let me know if you're interested in swinging by Ecuador for a few (8) days to say hello to Adam and Sara (as well as to do a few other things).

E) Anytime you're in town, come by the conference room (by the church offices) for college Sunday School. Taylor Sutherland and I co-teach/argue every week. It's usually some pretty good times…except when it's only a mediocre time, but you should come anyway.

F) If you're expecting a guy with long curly hair to be the college director, you would be mistaking me for the "old Trey." The new Trey buzzed his head in a momentary lapse in judgment. Feel free to click here and meet the new Trey (and I don't have a cone head…it's a shadow): http://education.fpcnashville.org/TreyWince.htm .

G) You'll probably get some emails or calls from Linda Morphis. She's the College Program Coordinator. She's pretty super. Click here to meet her: http://education.fpcnashville.org/LindaMorphis.htm.

That's pretty much all I've got for you. I just wanted to continue writing in list form.

Love,
Trey Wince
