Weekday Classes for Adults
Dear Friends in Christ:
Acts tells us that the earliest Christians committed themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
In reflection of this, our congregation's mission statement is "To know Christ, to make Him known, and to exhibit his love through worship, education and service." The early church's "breaking of bread and prayers" is shorthand for worship in word and sacrament. The apostles' fellowship was a life shared with Jesus, not simply taking classes from him. The apostles' teaching is the content of beliefs about Jesus, God's promised Messiah and Son, and his gospel announcing the kingdom of God.
Our congregation's mission statement expresses our intention to walk in the steps of the early Christians. We worship weekly, we serve daily, and together we study through the week, in Sunday School and on Wednesday evenings and in weekly small groups. We do these things because we realize that our obedience to Christ's command depends upon committing ourselves, as they did, to teaching and fellowship, to worship and service.
The summary of Christ's commandment is this: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." And a second is like it: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
"Let this website and the weekday classes listed on the left assist you in obeying Christ's command to love, and guide you in the steps of the early Christians. Use it to plan your time in the months ahead, to take intentional steps of growth in your love for God and neighbor.
