Sunday Adult Classes
Below is a list of each class with a brief description. For a more detailed look at the classes, click on the class links to the left.
ADVENTURE CLASS (OHS Library) Tom Harrington leads this lecture class, which is off for the summer.
BOOKS IN THE BIBLE CLASS (Room L-207)
Chuck Grice leads this class, in which a chosen book of the Bible is studied a chapter at a time. The Gospel of Matthew is the current study.
COLLEGE CLASS (Sumner House)
For students at Vanderbilt, Belmont and other local colleges, as well as for member students when they are home from other schools. Steve Bartlett, Taylor Sutherland, and Trey Wince host the group.
THE CHRISTIAN LIFE: JOURNEY IN A MODERN WORLD (L-203)
Leader Lonnie Stout is currently exploring with the class some issues arising in the Reformation, and then some more modern church issues.
DISCIPLE II CLASS (Room L-204)
Elder Marbut Gaston leads this two-hour (8:30-10:30 a.m.) class, covering Genesis/Exodus and Luke/Acts during this school year.
DISCIPLESHIP CLASS (Room L-200) Dr. Reuben Brooks and Dr. Andy Spickard lead this class, which seeks to know Christ more intimately. We are currently studying the Gospel of John.
FRIENDS IN FAITH CLASS (Room A-106)
Bible studies and marriage topics for couples 20's-early 30's.
INQUIRERS' CLASS (Session Room)
For new members and inquirers about the Presbyterian Church and this congregation. Associate Pastor Sandra Randleman leads these 5-week sessions for new members and inquirers.
ISSUES DISCUSSION CLASS (Room L-201)
Founding leaders are Maureen & Justin Milam and Lisa & Tony Springman.
JUNE RAMSEY CLASS (Cheek House Living Room)
Seminary-level topics and scholarship, mostly led by Vanderbilt Divinity School faculty and graduate students. Meets at 9:45 sharp!
LOGOS CLASS (Stanford Chapel)
Assoc. Pastor Stuart Gordon teaches this large class.
PARTNERS IN PROMISE CLASS (Room A-101)
Couples class, 30s-40s, featuring Bible study and family topics. Led by Jim and Donna Robers.
SEARCH BIBLE STUDY (Room L-205)
Book-by-book Bible study, using Genesis to Revelation Series. Bill Akin, Frank Tacker and others share leadership. The class is currently deep into the letters of the New Testament.
SPIRITUAL JOURNEY FOR WOMEN (Cheek House Dining Room)
Bible study and depth psychology in a warm, accepting atmosphere, for women only. Anne Alexander Vincent and others are leaders.
TWENTY-SOMETHING YOUNG ADULTS (Sumner House)
For young adults who are entering the "real world." Many are finishing graduate school here, interning or beginning their careers. Led by Steve Bartlett, Taylor Sutherland and Trey Wince.
YOUTH LEADERS CLASS (Room A-104) John Baird, local attorney, joins with others who have the common bond of being in leaders and supporters of FPC's Youth program.
