Youth Leadership Class
Led by John Baird
John joined First Presbyterian Church over thirty years ago in anticipation of his marriage to the former Louise Martin. John has since served as a Deacon, an Elder, and chair of various committees, including the Youth Committee and Stewardship Committee. He began teaching Sunday School in the Youth Department in mid-1990s at the suggestion of Rusty Douglas and Mark DeVries.
Class Size: 20-40 (depending on Titans schedule, Spring Break, and youth group parent-youth activities). Seating is in a circle. Cell phones are not tolerated.
Age Group: 30-somethings to 50-somethings; typically, couples connected to FPC Youth Groups
Curriculum: Lessons are loosely based on Mark DeVries' Spice Rack Series, and always involve Scripture. We are searching for answers. Following a "go around question" which everyone must answer, a spiritual topic (which, as they all do, has relevance to our culture) is posed to the class. Discussion is encouraged and always occurs. Leader input varies inversely to class participation, and laughter is frequent. A volunteer is asked to close with prayer.
