Welcome to the Blue Room…
Our first priority in this room is to build trust and security so we can start to learn and grow. The children in this room are 2 to 2 1/2 years old. They spend their time exploring, learning, and discovering centers—art, blocks, housekeeping, small motor, books, and large motor. This makes for many choices and an active day.
The children in the Blue Room are starting to explore their surroundings and discover each other. They play together and are together as a group. Many children find their first friend. Singing, listening to stories, doing finger plays, talking, being silly, and listening to music are ways we build vocabulary and encourage language. The children begin to talk using words, phrases, and even sentences.
This is a very exciting age as they are becoming their own person and learning to do things by themselves. They are learning so much and developing the social and cognitive skills to get them ready for their next step in Preschool.
