Teddy Chistenberry - Junior High Youth Director

There is no such thing as a ‘perfect person’. But there certainly are individuals whose flirtation with the notion of perfection mandates a close evaluation of whether or not there might in fact be a ‘perfect person’ out there somewhere. Ladies and gentlemen, Teddy Christenberry is one of these individuals. An unfathomable blend of ruggedness and tenderness, Teddy is in all ways, shapes, and forms, a modern hero of anatomical and relational wonder. In the words of Trey Wince, “Teddy encapsulates all that I aspire to be, and all that I shall never attain”. Truer words have never been spoken.

Teddy has been a familiar face at First Presbyterian Church for 20 years. A former youth in the youth department, a former youth choir singer, a former Wise Man in the Christmas Eve services, and a former wearer-of-huge-glasses, Teddy has captured the hearts of many First Presbyterian Church families. He attended high school at Montgomery Bell Academy, where he was one of the most exemplary average students in the history of the Academy. He was on a first name basis with many of his friends. He won several unofficial awards there including but not limited to: “Most Dreaded Student”, “Most Demerited Student”, “Most Intriguing Calf-Muscled Student” and “Most Attractive Student”. His parents are very proud.

Teddy then gallivanted off to the University of Tennessee, where he learned that God’s favorite color is, in fact, orange. Majoring in English Literature (for the money), Teddy is now capable of diagramming even the most difficult of sentences, which has proven to be a vital skill in his role as a Youth Minister and Worship Leader. In January of his junior year, Teddy and Trey Wince began “the 5:30”, for which Teddy has been the worship leader since its existence. He also led worship for other ministries in Knoxville, where he still periodically serves.

Teddy has been an avid short term missions man, traveling as close as Chattanooga for mission work, and as far as Vietnam and Cambodia to serve. His passion for missions continues to persist to this day.

Teddy loves being back in Nashville. Despite his hatred for dancing, Teddy loves to make music. Other things Teddy hates: lids, cats, portabella mushrooms. He loves: pez candy, boxer puppies, coffee, and how awesome he is.

Teddy’s life verse is Genesis 12:1---“The Lord said to Abram, ‘Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you’”
