Show Up and Share Day 2004
Stepping into God's Time

December 26, 2005 Children's Sunday School Event

On the Sunday after Christmas Day, the kindergarten through the 5th grade children and their leaders gathered in the gym. Deb O'Brien began with a presentation which reviewed the Biblical lead up to Christ's birth, by presenting Isaiah, John the Baptist, Mary and Joseph, and culminating with the newborn Christ child. Carolyn Naumann and several of the choir students shared a song about the church year to the whole group.

Children and adult leaders then put on colored "tunics" which corresponded to the different colors of the church seasons. Each person became a "week of the year." We reverently paraded into a circle like a clock illustrating the seasons of the church year, the length of each season accurately represented by the number of people. The special days of Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost were represented with banners. Each "season" and "special day" announced their purpose. Then everyone colored their own church calendar and Jim Denton closed with prayer. Now the children (and adults!) know the seasons of the church year, color, and purpose:

Advent
- Purple
Christmas
- White
Epiphany
- Green
Lent
- Purple
Easter Day and Season
- White
Pentecost
- Red
The Growing Season (ordinary time)
- Green
