In-Reach and Out-Reach Servants
Sunday morning learning is centered around the study of Bible stories and deepening trust and faith in God while the rest of the hours and days we spend living life faithfully. As part of our children's Sunday School ministry, we have an intentional focus on caring for and serving our brother and sisters in Christ - essential aspects of faithful living.
We realize how special a card or phone call from a loving, caring adult really is to our children. Each children's Sunday School class has an In-Reach Servant who ensures that each child is remembered in happiness (birthdays, etc) and in sadness (death in family, illness, etc). Through the act of sending a card or phoning, the message "you are loved, you are important and you are cared for" is conveyed.
We realize, too, that children need opportunities to put their faith in action. As they study God's Word, they, too, are moved by the Spirit to serve others. Each Sunday School grade has a team of Out-Reach servants who plan a fall and spring service project. Children are empowered when they can make a difference in the world. Through these projects, our children experience the life of faith outside the walls of the church building, meet face-to-face with people in a setting that allows mutual gift sharing, and begin to understand that the role of Christ's disciples.
