Ellie Billington-Youth Ministries Coordinator

Ellie Billington arrived on the FPC Staff in June, 2004 after serving as a volunteer with the youth for the previous eight years. She began as a member of the Class Coordinator Team when her daughter, Ellie, started in the youth group in 1996. She has filled some of "Mark's crazier ideas" like honchos and cows! In 2000, she continued as a member of a second Class Coordinator Team for the then 7th grade class of her son, Billy. Ellie has served on the Youth Committee for several years, and has loved going on the youth mission trips. Some of her past trips include a trip to Montana serving the Crow Indians, Kentucky, Chattanooga, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and the Great Escape Junior High Youth Conference in Cleveland, TN.

Ellie met her husband, William, in 1978 at Vanderbilt, and upon her graduation in 1979, (with a BA in East Asian History!) they soon married. Ellie, William, and other family members started a shoe shop in Green Hills, "Fabulous Feet", in 1981. After William went into the banking business, and Ellie became the sole partner of the shop, she decided to retire after the birth of their second child. She has loved spending these past years raising her children, Ellie and Billy. Just before becoming an empty nester, she was searching and praying with her Monday morning group (LeeLee, Louise, and Susan) about where God was calling her, and she received the answer loud and clear as the FPC Youth Ministries Coordinator.

There are a few things that Ellie does miss when she is at work...spending time in Monteagle; their pugs, Frisky and Peanut; and sitting on her porch, but the rewards are tenfold...hearing the youth come bustling in the Tyne House; working alongside her running partner, Linda; being surrounded by the craziness of rest of the Youth and College Staff (BJ, Trey, Ryan, and Courtney) and wondering what they'll do next! Life is good!

One of Ellie's favorite Bible verses is I Thessalonians 5:17, "Pray without ceasing." (because it is short and easy to memorize).
