BJ Feuerhelm - High School Youth Director
BJ Feuerhelm grew up in Edmond, OK where he attended Oklahoma Christian University. He majored in Physical Education and loved teaching and coaching basketball. He coached high school basketball for 4 years through college and then two more years after graduation. He later taught for 3 years, all at elementary schools, and loved the opportunity to work with young people and watch them succeed.
BJ met up with this youth group and church family as a last minute (literally 12 hours) substitute chaperone for the Jamaica youth mission trip in June 2007. He readily accepted the chaperone task never imagining what God had in store for him. He was happy, loved, respected, and he loved his job in Oklahoma. When youth and adults on the trip quizzed him about coming to Nashville to work, he wondered, "Why would I leave?" It was amazing to see how God used the rising Seniors on that trip to bless his life and how the right doors kept opening. So, he took a leap … and thus far all he's seen is success (with no failure in sight!) This is hard to beat!
BJ loves to work with this amazing FPC staff, this great church family, and the most unbelievable kids on the planet! He's looking forward to so many things this year: he's not been skiing since he was 12, he can't wait for the spring break trip to TJ (it truly is top notch), and the 400+ students that he will get the chance to meet and form relationships.
BJ LOVES sports! He loves playing them, watching them, and talking about them. He is on the side that believes college sports are better than professional (welcome to the great SEC). He enjoys playing golf and basketball. College football is one of his favorite things to watch - period. Oh, and he enjoys eating anything and just hanging out!
BJ says he has heard amazing things about this church over the years from his childhood friend and FPC youth staff member, Trey Wince, and feels incredibly fortunate to be a part of something so special. He has enjoyed getting to know some of the youth families in the church and looks forward to meeting more and more of them!
His favorite bible verse is Colossians 3:17 – " And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
