Early Preschool at First Presbyterian Church
Our Mission
Early Preschool at First Presbyterian Church provides a Christian environment for the social, emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual development of children ages 18 months through 5 years. In our safe atmosphere of mutual affection and respect, children learn healthy social skills and build self esteem.
Our Curriculum
The curriculum which has been implemented in the Early Preschool is "The Creative Curriculum," written by Diane Trister Dodge and Kate Heroman. Creative Curriculum is a comprehensive blueprint, offering a valuable overview in research and theories, while integrating new developments in the field of early childhood. Creative Curriculum skillfully balances current demands for outcomes and accountability with what we know about the vital role of play in children's learning. In addition, our weekly schedule provides a music class and Children's Chapel time.

We utilize "Godly Play" as our curriculum. Godly Play teaches children the art of using religious language- parable, sacred story, silence, and liturgical action-helping them become more fully aware of the mystery of God's presence in their lives. (McClain, Rebecca, www.godlyplay.org)
Our Staff
Our educational and administrative staff is a combination of degreed teachers and experienced caregivers. The Early Preschool is renowned for maintaining a low teacher-child ratio with two teachers in each classroom. The staff provides a nurturing environment that fosters trust, security and a love of learning within each child.
