Our Youth Mission Statement
In partnership with families, the youth ministry at First Presbyterian Church, exists to engage 100% of the students under its care, to train them to live independently in Christ, and to send them out as exceptional Godly men and women of integrity who will transform their homes, their schools, their churches, their workplaces, and their worlds for Christ.

Our Ministry
We have an amazing group of teenagers and youth leaders at First Presbyterian Church. The keystone of our Youth Ministry is found in our emphasis on empowering families and connecting students to an extended Christian family in the church.
All of our teenagers meet together on Sunday morning for Sunday School classes with a "home-grown" curriculum covering everything from the patriarchs to peer pressure. These classes are taught by an energetic team of adults who love Jesus Christ and love kids.
A number of our youth take a deeper look at the Christian life in one of our weekly small groups. These groups meet at a variety of times throughout the week and provide an informal time for searching, questioning and learning to live as an extended Christian family. DOXOLOGY, our youth choir, meets Wednesday evenings during the school year from 6:00 - 6:30 p.m.
In the past, we have participated in mission trips to Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and the Cumberland Mountains. We have built low-income housing in Jackson, Mississippi, and participated in building projects here in Nashville. Each summer, our junior high youth attend the Great Escape youth conference, a pivital event that many mark as the turning point in their walk with Jesus.
Because of the increasing need to support parents of our youth, we frequently sponsor programs for parents and teens together along with events designed specifically for parents of teens. Please contact the Youth Ministry office (Ellie Billington at 298-9508 or ebillington@fpcnashville.org ) if we can serve you or if you are interested in helping us! |
